From the days of the office team travelling the country in pursuit of cruise ships to the present day of local port teams managing on the day operations, company expansion has brought management to the point where they are in pursuit of larger local port teams.
Cathie, EI’s resident guiding expert has taken on the role of port team assignments, and she advertised through Indeed for Port Managers and Assistants to expand our teams in Belfast and Galway. With many eager applicants, Cathie and Carmel whittled the list down to a promising 10 candidates in Belfast and 6 in Galway. With the help of Zoom the ladies interviewed these prospects and the successful 4 from Belfast were Kellie and Ady who have already acted as port manager in Belfast and Sharleen and Caroline the newest port assistants. In Galway 1 new port manager and 3 new assistants were recruited with the additions of Michelle as port manager and Paddy, Ali and Ania as port assistants. Ania is currently in training to also act as port manager.
Carmel, one of our original Golden Girls—or 50% of the A Team as herself and Ann are sometimes known—travelled to Belfast in early May to train the new team members and again travelled up on separate occasions to shadow Kellie and Ady as they acted as Port Manager (no pressure, eh?!). With a glowing report for both, they have slotted into Cathie’s schedule like they were always here.
Similarly, Carmel brought her skills to Galway in early June to train Michelle, Paddy and Ali who again all shone in Carmel’s eyes and Michelle established her place as port manager for both Galway and Foynes. Carmel returned another day to train Ania who again will slot into the role as port manager with a little more training.
A big EI welcome to the new port team recruits and the best of luck to you all.
Another of our summer recruits was the lovely Leigh. Leigh is Emma Morgan’s son and as is the usual EI tendency he was recruited to help on the pier during his summer holidays.
